Course Description

Participants will learn what is involved in a psycho-educational evaluation including the different test instruments utilized.   Participants will also learn about a variety of resources in the Coachella Valley to help guide individuals of all ages in the right direction so they can reach their maximum potential.   A discussion will be held on how to network and connect with others in the community to grow one's private practice.

Bio

Brent Cooper, Licensed Educational Psychologist, is the owner of El Paseo Children’s Center based in Palm Desert, California.  He obtained 2 Masters Degrees in the areas of Educational Psychology and Counseling Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in 2001 after completing his internship in Santa Monica – Malibu Unified School District.    Mr. Cooper is a Board Certified Licensed Educational Psychologist governed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and has been in private practice since 2005. Specialty areas of practice include psychological and educational assessments of children, adolescents, and young adults, with a focus on cognitive disorders, learning disorders, attention deficits and hyperactivity, Autism Spectrum Disorder, emotional disturbances, and other health impairments. Mr. Cooper regularly conducts Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), Individual Education Programs (IEPs), private evaluations, and consults with schools regarding behavioral management of and educational solutions for children in the classroom. Benefits include implementation of 504 Plans (public/private schools), University testing accommodations, College Board entrance exams, and most importantly, understanding a student's Learning Profile to be a successful and independent learner.

EPCC School Based Staffing Solutions division contracts with school districts and charter schools exclusively in California by filling part-time and permanent Special Education positions. As a result of building solid relationships with Student Support Services within schools, EPCC continues to flourish and meet the unique needs of every client. For over a decade, our comprehensive team of professionals has been committed to providing the highest quality services in special education. Our team consists of assessors and providers covering all areas within special education, including school psychologists, board certified behavior analysts, occupational therapists, physical therapists, adaptive physical education teachers, audiologists, speech and language pathologists, visual impairment specialists, deaf and hard-of-hearing specialists, school nurses, skilled translators, interpreters, and education specialists/tutors.

  

This course meets the qualifications for two (2) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  Completion certificates will be awarded for full attendance of the event. 
Course evaluations are required to obtain the completion certificate.

The Desert Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (Provider #62275) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.  The Desert Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for the course and its content.
