Description

This presentation details what to expect when a therapist is called to provide testimony at a deposition in their professional capacity.

Educational Goals

Participants will gain a greater understanding of the legal and ethical obligations surrounding attendance at a deposition. Participants will also learn what the deposition itself might be like.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to

  1. Identify the two primary reasons why a therapist might be called to provide deposition testimony.
  2. Analyze the information in a deposition subpoena in order to convey that information to their patient(s).
  3. State the three individuals who may assert the psychotherapist patient privilege.
  4. Identify the seven ground rules common to most depositions.
