Dave Jensen will stress the importance of the psychotherapist's role as a creator of legal and ethical outcomes, whether for good or for ill. In particular, he will instruct attendees on the ten fundamentals of practicing legally, ethically, safely, and confidently. This course will also cover the important subjects of patients who are dangerous to third parties, and provide attendees with an overview of the BBS administrative hearing process.
This workshop is designed to help you:
- 1. Recognize the importance of the psychotherapist's role and their effect on good or bad legal and ethical outcomes.
- 2. Identify the four fundamentals of practicing legally, ethically, safely and confidently.
- 3. Recognize the differences between the duty to warn, the duty to protect, and the duty to report.
- 4. Summarize the BBS administrative hearing process as it applies to therapy.
This course meets the qualifications for one (6) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Completion certificates will be awarded for full attendance of the event.
