Description:  

Many times, those in helping professions place a great emphasis on caring for others so much so that they find it difficult to care for themselves.  This presentation addresses common misconceptions about self-care, struggles with implementing self-care and, practical ideas to optimize self-care specifically for those in helping professions. Additionally, self-care during the pandemic will be discussed.


Objectives:

1) Learn about self-care for the helper/healer.

2) Learn about common misconceptions about self-care.

3) Learn about self-care during the pandemic.


Presenters Biography:

Dr. Eugene R. Furnace is an advocate for whole-person health that includes physical, psychosocial, and spiritual aspects of well-being.  Academically, he has earned degrees in health, psychology, theology, and health administration fields.  Additionally, he has taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses for business, pre-nursing, neurobiology, psychology, and related studies.  Professionally, Dr. Furnace has worked with small and large healthcare organizations, nonprofit organizations, and top fortune 100 companies in leadership and consulting roles.  In every arena, he promotes holistic health as an avenue to wellness in all domains of life.
